Experience
I am a graduate of the University of Kansas where I earned a Bachelor's degree in Broadcast Journalism. This December I will be receiving a Master's in Education with an emphasis in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. Previously I have taught Reading and English Language Arts at the middle school level, however, I currently teach Speech and Theatre at a middle school in Kansas City, KS where I also coach Debate. I am passionate to teach students to proficiency in reading, writing, and oral literacies. This includes a devotion to help students tackle difficult texts and to structure and draft effective pieces of writing and oral speeches. My philosophy of teaching is that all students are capable of learning, they just need a teacher who can find ways to differentiate learning strategies to get them to the next level. My favorite hobby is traveling! I enjoy spending time and relaxing on the beach; unfortunately Kansas has no beaches! I love to watch (and attend when possible) NCAA Men's Basketball and Kansas City Royals games. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family and watching movies. My dream job is to become a High School Counselor. In this profession I will encourage and inspire students from all walks of life to seek higher education so they can begin their journey toward a personalized career path. I plan to start a second Masters degree in School Counseling in the fall of 2016. I look forward to tutoring you.
